Final Chosen Design for 2024
This artwork is meant to draw upon the fascination of flowers that is present in many, if not all, Latin cultures. Flowers are given a lot of emphasis when it comes to decorations and clothing patterns. If fact, many traditional latin dresses and suits have floral designs sewn into them.
In order to show how cherished both flowers and music are, I created flowering microphones. I went with the Sunflower as the base of the design since it is closely tied to my own family who hail from Morelos, Mexico.
The leaf guitar-like instruments are based on the Charango, a popular instrument that is prominent around Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina. The color leaves in the background are there to mimic the aforementioned floral designs some dresses may have.
